Annual Spring Hobby Show

Shearwater Aviation Museum presents its annual spring hobby show, a signature event in the community, and a fundraiser to assist the museum with aircraft restoration and exhibit improvements.

Saturday, May 2nd, 10 am – 4  pm, 2026 and Sunday, May 3rd, 10 am – 4 pm, 2026*

What’s it all about?

The show will be a multi-discipline event featuring model Aircraft, Armor, Ship, Figure, Science Fiction, Automotive subjects, and Model Railway layouts;  Dolls and Dollhouse Miniatures;  Radio Control Ship and Aircraft Models;  Lego displays; Historical Gaming;  a radio-controlled aircraft, a Trade Fair, and much more.  Please note: the show will be at the Sea King Club, 242 Warrior Avenue, Shearwater. Government issued photo ID will be required at the security gate in Shearwater, and all visitors are subject to all DND/CAF security protocols.

All profits from the show will be donated to the Shearwater Aviation Museum exhibit and restoration programs.

Where to Find us…

The show will be at the Sea King Club, 242 Warrior Avenue (the first left-hand turn past the Main Gate). The Main Gate is past the Museum on the entrance road (Bonaventure Street) to the Shearwater Airport, directly off Main Road (civic route 322) past the old Imperial Oil Refinery.

Participate in the Show!

General Admission:        General admission will be $5.00 per person or $12.00 per family of four.

Exhibitors can book free display tables to showcase their hobby, or Vendors can rent a trade fair table(s) at a cost of $25.00 each to buy, sell or trade personal items. Please book display and trade fair tables in advance.  To reserve tables contact the Shearwater Aviation Museum at curator@shearwateraviationmuseum.ca or (902) 720-1083, or complete a Display/Vendor Registration Form. Payments for tables can be made via cash, cheque, debit/credit or e-transfer. E-transfer payment address is: 1099-HFXSAMPMTS@CFMWS.COM. Receipts for table rentals are available on request.

Scale Model Contest

IT’S BACK FOR 2026!!! The return of the scale model builders show and contest will be celebrated at the annual Shearwater Aviation Museum Hobby Show. The Model Contest will take place on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026. The location of the show and model contest is: 12 Wing Shearwater, Sea King Club, 242 Warrior Avenue, Shearwater NS B0J 3A0

Contest Show Theme is: Post war the ‘50s   – Entries must be recognizable as reflecting something from the 1950s era. All categories are eligible to participate for this award.

Contest Registration will open at 10:00 a.m.

Contest Awards will be presented at 3:30 p.m.

This will be a Judged contest.

There will be a range of entry categories to accommodate all scale model builders.

There will also be a DISPLAY only table for those modelers who wish to exhibit their work but not be Judged.

All entries will be judged and the best selected in each category with either a Gold, Silver or Bronze medal.

Special Awards will include an overall Show Theme.

Friday, 1 May 2026:

  • 1:00 -7:00 pm: Exhibitor set-up

Saturday, 2 May 2026

  • 8:00-10:00 am: Exhibitor set-up
  • 10:00 am: Doors opens to the public, Model Contest registration opens
  • 12:00 pm: Deadline for contest registration
  • 2:00 pm: Model judging ends
  • 3:30 pm: Contest Awards presented
  • 4:00 pm: Doors close to the public, Model contestants may remove displays

Sunday, 3 May 2026

  • 8:00 am: Exhibitor set-up
  • 10:00 am: Doors open to the public
  • 11:00 am: Special Interest session-TBD
  • 12:00 pm: Hecatina Miniature Figures Painting Showcase-TBC
  • 4:00 pm: Doors close to the public, exhibitors dismantle displays
  • 6:00 pm: Sea King Club closes, exhibits must be dismantled and removed by this time.
